Well, ok, I'm not officially on holiday for another 36 hours yet, but I have decreed that my holiday actually commenced at approximately 11.10 this morning, ie the second we drove away after having installed MIL in the respite care home.

I am free!! So, what have I accomplished today? I have pottered! I have proscrastinated! I have fiddled about on the internet! I have been to the pub! I have had fish and chips for my supper! And I have been alone in my own bloody house, and it's been bloody fantastic!

Got most of my packing done too, only last minute bits and bobs to see to tomorrow, and then we'll be ready for the off bright and early on Wednesday morning. JD is working for most of the day tomorrow so I shall make the most of my solitude again whilst doing yet more pottering. It might sound pretty mundane but I shall relish it, believe me.

Big bonus tomorrow morning - I'll actually be able to go to Izzy's school and see her performing in her end-of-year assembly. This will be the first chance I've had to go to anything she's been involved with at school as I'm usually stuck in the house waiting for MIL's carer to turn up, so I'm really looking forward to it. The poor mite's in the wars too - fell off her scooter yesterday and ended up with a fractured wrist. Mind you, she's lapping up all the attention from her school mates apparently... *g*

Off to London for four days on Wednesday then, and then down to Exmoor for ten days. Possibly no internet access while I'm away (unless I can fit in a quick trip to the Wetherspoons in Minehead, that is). And then when we get back we'll have two whole days at home on our own before we go to pick MIL up. Not that she knows that - if she had the slightest inkling that we were at home she'd be getting someone to phone us up, demanding that we visit her. We're taking advantage of the situation to take Izzy to York for the day when we get back - once again, a rare opportunity to actually take her on an outing. I do feel guilty when she's on her school holidays and the most exciting trip I can offer is a quick walk down to Morrisons and back...

I shall bid you all adieu now then (pub meal with all the family tomorrow night - yet another opportunity that only arises once or twice a year). Photos and reports will follow if I get the chance - if not, I shall see you all again at the end of the month!

And look! I'm going to go to bed early and read Pros slash! Don't have to wait up and put MIL to bed and dish out her medication at 11pm. I can go to bed when I want to!!

Ta-ra wacks!
