Eep!! I've been hacked!!

Many apologies to anyone on my flist who received an dodgy-looking email from my Sally Fell Hotmail addy this afternoon.

It seems that I've been hacked, folks.

I'm trying to get it sorted now, but in the meantime please don't click on any links in the emails if you happen to have had anything from me today.

This has never happened to me before in all the years that I've been online.

Yep, can't be too careful.

My virus scan didn't show anything up on either my PC or laptop so that was a relief. I've now changed my password for my Hotmail account so fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

It seems to be happening all over though, I've had several dodgy emails from various people today. Stoopid bloody hackers...

It happened to me a few months back! I was so shocked too as I thought I had a pretty complex password. :c Why do these people do stuff like this? It's so annoying and a bit disheartening.

Thankfully my anti-virus software didn't show anything nasty when I scanned my PC and laptop, so hopefully it'll turn out to be nothing more than a damn nuisance.

I wish these bloody hackers would find something else to pass the time though...

The worse thing is the thought that you might have passed something nasty on to other people, although thankfully no viruses showed up when I scanned my PC and my laptop.

That's the annoying thing, because I am always very careful. I don't appear to be harbouring any viruses or malware though, which is a relief.

It seems as though the same thing is happening to a lot of people at the moment. I suppose some idiots somewhere will be thinking that it's all so amusing...

I was hacked 2 weeks ago, too. I got an e-mail from meselfe without subject. ( and of course my whole mail contacts got it too ). I checked the netbook and changed my password for hotmail. There was no virus or trojaner, phewww...

Sounds like exactly the same thing. Thankfully no viruses showed up when I did a scan, so hopefully it'll just turn out to be a nuisance rather than anything more sinister.

Looks like it's going around - I've just received a similar dodgy-looking email from someone else too. Honestly, it can't really do anyone any good to send these around, can it? Do people actually click on links and buy products and so on...? Hope it's easy to sort out for you, it's the worry as much as anything, isn't it...

You're right, it's worrying that you've passed on something nasty that's the worst thing. Thankfully my virus scans didn't show up anything dodgy so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's all dealt with now.

It's bloody annoying and horrible to think that you might have passed on a virus or something. Pleased to say that my virus scans didn't find anything nasty lurking on my PC or laptop, so I'm hoping that it'll turn out to be a nuisance rather than anything more serious.

I got quite a few from related addresses, mind you, via mailing lists.

Is it actually that your machine is sending the emails, or is it that people are receiving emails which claim to be from your account? It's entirely possible to fake the headers. In which case, they're coming from another machine and your machine is intact. Fingers crossed that this is the case...

It makes me wonder a bit Now I got an email from Murphybabe.. only a link and my virus scan pops up..... I get these mails only from LJ members...How safe we are her ???? *scratching my head*. Any idea??

Yep, I'm afraid that she seems to be affected too (she is aware of it, btw).

I've had a couple of dodgy emails today via Yahoo groups, so it's not just LJ members that are being targeted. I think all we can do is make sure that we don't click on any suspicious links.

YEp I told her an hour ago. aND YES THE yAHOO GROUP. It made me wonder too that I suddednly got an email message when you posted something in the Lew groupe. I never got any mail like this!no mail before!!!of anythingin this groupe!!!
